The Best Cities For Black Friday Shopping

Although Black Friday is still weeks away, many bargain shoppers already know what stores open early and what items are deeply discounted. This year Black Friday sales are more popular than ever. While many other consumers will simply avoid holiday crowds at shopping malls or even wait until Cyber Monday, retail stores across the nation will be buzzing with activities on the day after Thanksgiving. The following are five of the best American cities for Black Friday deals:

Houston, TX: - Texas has several choices across the state for discount shopping, but its largest city might have the best selection. For starters, there’s the massive Galleria, the largest shopping mall in a state where everything is supposedly bigger. Located in the Uptown District, the Galleria annually draws thousands of shoppers to pick out the best Black Friday deals from stores like Best Buy, Macy’s and Radio Shack. There’s also the Houston Premium Outlets, with 145 stores, including a Disney Store, Gap Outlet and Nike Outlet Store. Despite all of these outstanding choices for bargain shopping, the best deals are likely to be found at the numerous discount retailers, with 20 Walmart stores, 17 Target stores and 10 Best Buy stores in the Greater Houston area.

Houston-TX

Las Vegas, NV: - Better known as the Gambling Capital of the World, Las Vegas is also a prime destination for bargain shoppers, particularly on Black Friday. Almost every shopping mall in the city opens on Black Friday at midnight, along with the two immensely popular Las Vegas Premium Shopping Outlets. There are also 20 Walmart stores, 12 Target stores, 10 Toys R Us stores and 9 Best Buy stores, all expected to be open Thanksgiving evening at 8 p.m., in addition to 20 Ross stores, and six Marshalls and six TJ Maxx opening later that morning. Lastly, shoppers shouldn’t forget mega-casino shopping centers such as the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood and Via Bellagio, all expected to be packed with shoppers looking for discount items on Black Friday.

las-vegas

Los Angeles, CA: - It is a good bet that there won’t be any Black Friday deals along LA’s famed Rodeo Drive, but there will be plenty of bargains available throughout the country’s second largest city. Lively shopping centers like The Grove, Beverly Center, Third Street Promenade and the Highland Center and trendy neighborhoods such as Melrose Avenue, Universal CityWalk and the Sunset Strip will all be filled with bargain shoppers looking for the that perfect holiday gift or steeply discounted clothing and gadgets. Other popular LA shopping centers are the Sherman Oaks Galleria, Glendale Galleria, and Fashion Island in Newport Beach and the Del Amo Shopping Center in Torrance, once the country’s largest shopping mall. Like with any major American metropolitan area, Los Angeles also has its share of retail stores specializing in Black Friday sales, with over 25 Best Buys, 20 Walmart stores and an even larger number of Target stores.

Los-Angeles

Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN: - The gigantic Mall of America may have relinquished its status as the country’s largest shopping mall to Pennsylvania’s King of Prussia Mall, but the mall not far from Minneapolis has 522 retail stores, 100 more than its closest American competitor. With an estimated 40 million visitors annually, the Mall of America will be the place to be on Black Friday for most bargain shoppers. Last year, many mall retailers opened at midnight, including Best Buy, Gap, Macy’s, Nike and Sears, prompting thousands of shoppers to wait for doors to open. Even Apple Stores might have another rare Black Friday sale as in recent years. For those who simply wish to stay away from the expected colossal crowds at the Mall of America, the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area also has its fair share of retail discount stores, with 20 Walmart stores and several Target stores, which happen to be headquartered in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis-St

Orlando, FL: - The Theme Park Capital of the World also has a wide range of shopping deals for Black Friday. There are plenty of big box discount retailers like Walmart and Target. Orlando has two huge Premium Outlets and a number of shopping malls like Florida Mall one of the country’s largest single-story malls. Many of the city’s most popular shopping centers are concentrated along International Drive, including Pointe Orlando, Walmart Supercenter, International Drive Value Center and Festival Bay Mall. The I-Ride Trolley will be a very popular mode of public transportation on Black Friday, as its Red Line travels nine miles along International Drive, from the International Drive Premium Outlets to the north and Vineland Avenue Premium Outlets to the south with 78 trolley stops along the way and trolleys arriving every 20 minutes.

Orlando-FL

Amusement Parks Worldwide – 8 Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the third of the four theme parks built at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida on May 1, 1989. The total area it covers is 135 acres and every year it hosts approximately 10.11 million guests, making it the fifth most visited amusement park in United States and eighth most visited in the world. The park is currently represented by “The Sorcerer’s Hat”, a stylized version of magical hat from Fantasia. It replaced the Earful Tower as the park’s icon in 2001 and will continue to serve that role until its removal in 2015.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios doesn’t have a ton of attractions, but it has some great ones. If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World, it’s a great place to start when making a rough roadmap for what you want to do during your visit. Here is the list of all the major attractions:

Toy Story Mania: - It is a 3D screen based shooter game with Toy story character. Since it opened, this has become one of the most heavily-hyped attractions at Walt Disney World, drawing ridiculous standby wait times. It is the only ride in the park geared towards kids, which meant that regardless of quality, its line would be fairly long. It is a fun game based attraction and it look like a Wii game. The line has some fun props, but the ride itself is entirely screen based. It is superficial and of long duration but guests really enjoys it a lot.

Toy-Story-Mania

Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage: - It is a Broadway style musical at the 1,500 seat theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is based on the popular animated film Beauty and the Beast including many of the original songs and characters. While most of the soundtrack is prerecorded, the actors playing Belle and Gaston speak and sing live. Two versions of the show have been presented since opening day.

Beauty-and-the-Beast

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: - A free fall thrill ride set in the Twilight Zone with an elaborate lead-in and excellent story. This is the best Walt Disney World attraction to open in the last 20 years. We often hear from guests who don’t ride this because they don’t like thrills, but that’s a mistake. Yes, it’s technically a thrill ride, but it’s so much more.

Twilight-Zone-Tower-of-Terror

MuppetVision 3D:- 3D show featuring the Muppets. If you have a sense of humor you will love it. The pre-show is actually the highlight of MuppetVision and it can fairly be described as sidesplitting. To watch the whole show make sure you arrive early enough. The main 3D show is good and uses the typical 3D schemes and characters. The sharp script in the pre-show is incredibly nice.

MuppetVision-3D

Star Tours—The Adventures Continue: - It is a 3D motion simulator montage ride through various locations in the Star Wars universe. Star Tours is a motion simulator attraction. The ride is based on the successful Star War film series created by George Lucas. At its debut at Disneyland in 1987 it was the first Disney attraction based on a non-Disney film.

Star-ToursThe-Adventures-Continue

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular: - A stunt show themed to Indiana Jones. Despite its age, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular still works. It features a variety of different stunt styles, offers humor, and engaging narrative scenes that just work. As far as action-oriented shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this is by far the best.

Indiana-Jones-Epic-Stunt-Spectacular

Jedi Training Academy: - Small scale stage show giving kids the opportunity to become Jedi. This is an attraction that kids will absolutely love if they’re into Star Wars and are extroverted. It’s not quite as much fun for the audience, but it’s still decent. Originally somewhat of a temporary show, Jedi Training Academy could be so much more than it is which is why it loses some points.

Jedi-Training-Academy

Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith: - Intense roller coaster with a loop, featuring Aerosmith. The pre-show and queue help make it more of a fully fleshed out experience, but Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster is basically an unthemed rollercoaster in the dark. It’s fun, but it’s not 90-minute-wait fun. It’s a thrill for the sake of thrills attraction.

Rock-Rollercoaster-Starring-Aerosmith

These are the major attractions that you must try when you are in the park. Here is the list of other attractions that you can also try. But these rides not considered in major attractions:

  • The Great Movie Ride
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid
  • Fantasmic
  • Backlot Tour
  • Disney Junior – Live on Stage!
  • Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
  • The American Idol Experience
  • The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow
  • The Magic of Disney Animation

Kilimanjaro-Safaris

Expedition-Everest

Dinosaur

Festival of the Lion King: - Acrobats, singers, and other performers in tribal attire and vibrant costumes, plus parade floats with Lion King Characters and other creatures enact scenes inspired by the Lion King in a very lively theatrical show. There is lots of stuff going on, in which basically amounts to a lot of audio visual stimulation.

Festival-of-the-Lion-King

Finding Nemo: The Musical: - Human performers are paired with creatively made puppets in a condensed retelling of Finding Nemo. The big draw here is how the entertainers manipulate the puppets. It’s an interesting concept, and the presentation and music are excellent. The story simply being a condensed version of the film, but this show brings enough novelty to the table that it just works. This is the best-done show at Walt Disney World.

Finding-Nemo

Flights of Wonder: - Exotic bird “stunt” show in an outdoor amphitheater. Flights to Wonder is quite entertaining and engaging with a bit of self-aware, cheesy comedy that works really well to balance out its conservationist message. The intelligence of birds is astounding, and pretty funny too. It’s a great blend of Disney entertainment and wildlife.

Flights-of-Wonder

It’s Tough To Be A Bug: - This is a 3D show about touting the benefits of inspects with the cast of A Bug’s Life. This is a prime example of how you use Disney characters to make an educational film feel like pure entertainment. It’s a lot of fun and there are some great “interactive” moments in the show.

Tough-To-Be-A-Bug

Maharajah Jungle Trek: - Walk through animal’s exhibits with birds, bats and tigers. This will bring you close to various animals. While the animal encounters are great also the cast member sharing information about them. The environments through which you walk are the real star. All of this makes it feel like you’re experiencing the actual environments where these animals live, rather than just observing them in their pens. If you are an active participant in some sort of exploration. This is the best animal exhibit you have ever experienced.

Maharajah-Jungle-Trek

Las Vegas, Nevada: - Las Vegas is the best place to go in this season. Also if you are visiting Las Vegas then must visit SLA Las Vegas on the north end of the Strip which is just opened in August.

las-Vegas

New York, New York: - Like Las Vegas, New York never goes out of season for tourists. And especially in fall it has its own kind of energy. Day time temperatures are comfortably mild and chilly nights have set the trees to turning colors- and also Central Park is awash in red, yellow and orange. And it wouldn’t be autumn in the Big Apple without a stop at the Union Square Greenmarket for an apple-cider donut.

New-York-New-York

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina:- This year, Myrtle Beach launched a campaign called “The Secret’s Out: 60 More Days of Summer,” capitalizing on the fact that even in October, the air and water temperatures are typically still very summerlike on this swath of the 60-mile Grand Strand.

Myrtle-Beach-South-Carolina

Chicago, Illinois: - Autumn in the Windy City feels like: leaves crunching underfoot, sweaters and scarves on display, and football, basketball, and hockey on TV. Those who aren’t running in the Chicago Marathon are on the streets cheering the rest on. This fall, the David Bowie exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art is the only U.S. stop for the show, which is organized by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. And this year, the annual Chicago Humanities Festival brings speakers such as Paula Poundstone, Patti Smith, David Brooks, Mark Bittman, and Anne Rice to various venues around town.

And since October seems to be the month for beer festivals.

Virginia-Beach-Virginia

San Francisco, California: - Tourist to San Francisco in summertime are too often. The city really shine in fall when the fog takes of the Golden Gate Bridge. Disneyland Park is first theme park out of two, built at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallee, France. Its layout and attractions are similar to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida. The park hosts approximately 11 million visitors each year, making it the most visited theme park in Europe and also the sixth most visited theme park in the world.

Disneyland Paris opened in April 12, 1992 as EuroDisneyland. People loved the park and they continue to queue for its top attractions including Space Mountain: Mission 2, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. The major attractions and rides are:

Disney Dreams: - Disneyland Paris includes night time spectacular featuring fireworks, water fountains, laser show, castle projections and many more Disney Dream shows. The shows are non-stop litany of technical effects but also the thread with Peter Pan tying together a montage show with a heavy emphasis on French and other European Disney Stories with a nice narrative thread. Disney Dreams is not to be missed.

Disney Magic on Parade: - Disneyland Paris parade was uncovered for the park’s 20th Anniversary. The costumes are gorgeous, the floats are colorful and music is very catchy. It’s so energetic and pretty that it is hard not to love it. This parade is very popular so when you visit Disneyland then must visit this parade.

Pirates of the Caribbean: - Pirates of the Caribbean is a boat ride back in time to the days when pirates ruled the Caribbean. The attractions features Audio Animatronics pirates engaging in swashbuckling mayhem. This ride is housed in a beautiful bunker style fortress with an elaborate queue containing a lot of detail. The logical consequence of the decadent and nefarious lifestyle of pirates is death. To reach some conclusion, you have to assume the beginning is a story framing the rest of the story. That might work in heart of Darkness but this is a theme park attraction. This is the best ride and also this version has a few effects that are working then are very impressive.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: - Big Thunder Mountain a rollercoaster themed as a runaway mine train on a ride through the barren landscape of the Old West. Its location on an island in Frontierland. This is the best version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Space Mountain: Mission 2: - Space Mountain: Mission 2 is a dark intense roller coaster through outer space. This ride is awesome. The outdoor blast-off is all sorts of cool, and there is more of visual interest than the other Space Mountains. This isn’t just the minor thrashing you get on a rough roller coaster–Space Mountain: Mission 2 seems to strive for minor brain damage. This beautiful exterior is a big part of Space Mountain’s saving grace here, as the score for just the ride itself would be much lower.

‘It’s a small world’:- The classic boat ride features the children of the world. Those familiar with Mary Blair’s art will spot a noticeable difference between this and the US version. The design is overall more detailed, and perhaps this was an attempt to make it more appealing to a European audience that likely isn’t familiar with Mary Blair. The beauty and refinement is more deceptively, simple and more detailed. The sets are still reminiscent of the original and dolls are in the same style.

Alice’s Curious Labyrinth: - Walk-through interactive hedge maze based on Alice in Wonderland with some cool scenes and the Queen of Hearts’ Castle at the end. This is a fun area to explore. The view of Fantasyland from Queen of Hearts’ Castle at the end is the highlight.

Phantom Manor:- This is Disneyland Paris take on the Haunted Mansion, which is a slow-moving ride through a house that is inhabited by haunts. Phantom Manor offers a brilliant twist on the conventional Haunted Mansion, with just as many differences as similarities and an overall darker tone. This is an absolute must-do for all guests visiting Disneyland Paris, and we recommend doing it first thing in the morning or late at night to avoid crowds.

Le Pays de Contes de Fees: - This is also known as Storybook Land Canal Boats in English, this is a boat ride through miniature storybook scenes from Disney classics. This is basically a modernized version of the quaint Disneyland classic, with improved/modernized ride infrastructure.

Disneyland Railroad: - A railroad ride around the perimeter of Disneyland Paris with scenic surprises along the way. Much like everything at Disneyland Paris, the (Euro) Disneyland Railroad has a ton of meticulous detail, especially at the Main Street Station. The Grand Canyon diorama is also nice, as are other familiar scenes along the way.

Star Tours: - Star Tours is a flight-motion simulator into the Star Wars world with Audio Animatronics characters and in-vehicle effects.

Star-Tours

Thunder Mesa Riverboats: - A boat ride around the Rivers of America aboard either the Mark Twain or the Molly Brown, departing from the Thunder Mesa dock. Disneyland Paris’ Frontierland/Thunder Mesa is a beautiful place, and this is the best way to see parts of it that you won’t otherwise see, including great views of Big Thunder Mountain, Wilderness Island, caves, and more. It’s a great ambiance ride with some excellent views.
