The Taj Mahal also known as “crown of palaces” is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Nothing in the world can beat the magical effect of the Taj Mahal. The construction started in 1632 AD and completed in 1648 AD, with the mosque, the guest house and the main gateway on the south, the outer courtyard and its cloisters were added subsequently and completed in 1653 AD. Masons, stonecutters, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome-builders and other artisans were requisitioned from the whole of the empire and also from Central Asia and Iran. It took approximately 22 years to build with the use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants and an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees. Ustad Ahmad Lahori was the main architect of the Taj Mahal and Amanat Khan Shirazi was the calligrapher of Taj Mahal.
